A Lecture of Looking Back to the Research on Chinese Idioms in the Past 100 Years
On the afternoon of October 11th, 2017, Prof. Liu Guohui was invited to give a lecture looking back to the research on Chinese idioms in the past 100 years in Room 109 in CFL.
Prof. Liu talked about the One Belt One Road strategy in which China has to have cultural communication with countries alongside, and idiom is an indispensable part of Chinese culture.
Prof. Liu displayed many features of idiom. He gave two suggestions on future research on idiom. In terms of theory, scholars should focus on language structure, sense destruction, syntax analysis, pragmatic analysis in different genre. In terms of discipline building, he emphasized the combination of qualitative and quantitative research and experimental research.
