In order to carry out Party history education in Martyrs' Day and National Day, the Party Committee of the College of Foreign Languages organized each branch to carry out a series of activities on the theme of Party history learning to revere heroes and remember martyrs.
In the afternoon of September 17, the 2020 Party Branch of Master of Translation and Interpreting carried out thematic lectures in Longhua Martyrs Cemetery of Shanghai. The Party members first visited the memorial hall. The memorial hall is divided into eight exhibition halls, with more than 1,000 pieces of cultural relics and a large number of photos, showing the glorious performance of more than 200 revolutionary martyrs who fought in Shanghai since the Opium War. In the cemetery, there are 10 large memorial sculptures shaped by national famous sculptors and steles of calligraphy and poetry for remembering martyrs.
After the visit, Lin Zeyu, a member of the theoretical lecture group, gave a speech about learning the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's speech on “remembering the martyrs and revering the heroes”. As one of the Party members, we should remember our ancestors for the cause of the Chinese revolution, inherit their heroic spirit and dedication, study the history of the Party, and pay tribute to the revolutionary martyrs with firm beliefs.
Before leaving, the Party members wrote down their feelings and their expectations at the message counter, expressing their admiration for the revolutionary martyrs and setting up their determination to inherit their spirit.
In accordance with the requirements of the College's Party Committee, each student and faculty branch will continue to carry out scenario-based Party history learning activities around Martyrs’ Day and the National Day.
