On November 4, 2020, the College of Foreign Languages held a special meeting to study and deploy the construction work of the new business English research of the master’s degree in foreign languages and literature. The meeting was chaired by Wang Xian, director of the Department of Business English.
As an important initiative to “seek development and promote reform” this year, the College of Foreign Languages focuses on the development of “Belt and Road”, the integration process of Yangtze River Delta, the “five centers” of Shanghai and the Shanghai Free Trade Zone. The College established a new master’s degree in foreign language and literature within three months and planned to enroll in 2021, highlighting the characteristics of our maritime business research.
Zhu Yaobin, secretary and dean of the College, reviewed and summarized the course of declaration of the additional business English research direction, and put forward requirements for enrollment, faculty allocation and discipline development. He pointed out that it is necessary to have the vision of national development and urban construction, and actively implement the talent training and discipline construction work of the new direction from the positioning of the future development of Lin-gang. Vice Dean He Shaobin gave guidance on the number of enrollment and research focus of the newly established direction. Professor Zhang Yan, head of the discipline, hoped that the study of business English should be based on maritime characteristics, cultivate deeply, and be in the forefront of similar universities in the field of maritime business. Professor Weng Fengxiang, a senior teaching committee member and our business English research expert, analyzed and explained the training program design, curriculum system from multiple dimensions.
