Recently, the final of the Shanghai Region of “FLTRP•ETIC Cup” English Public Speaking Contest 2021 came to an end in East China University of Science and Technology, and our student Sun Hui won the second prize of the Shanghai Region in the contest.
In the previous period, in order to do a good job of selecting the contestants in the school, Zhang Dan from the College of Foreign Languages led the team to organize the internal selection of the “FLTRP•ETIC Cup” English Public Speaking Contest 2021. The audition was hosted by the College of Foreign Languages, and the teachers of the College of Foreign Languages, Zhang Dan and Li Fang, and foreign teacher Osborne Graham Jeffrey, were the judges. After a fierce competition, six outstanding contestants from different colleges entered the school selection round. Finally, Sun Hui won the outstanding prize in the school selection competition and represented the school to participate in the final of the Shanghai competition.
This contest is jointly sponsored by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press and China Foreign Language and Education Research Center, aiming to provide a comprehensive platform for college students nationwide to show their foreign language ability, communication ability, and thinking ability. The theme of the contest is Red Star Over China, which means the Red Star shines in China, guiding students to practice the core socialist values, inherit the red gene, and better use English to spread the Chinese story.
The competition demonstrated our students’ solid language skills and innovative thinking skills, as well as our student-centered and output-oriented teaching philosophy of talent development.
