In order to do a good job in promoting and educating the Civil Code of the People's Republic of China, the College of Foreign Languages held a general meeting for faculty and staff to focus on studying the Civil Code in the afternoon of October 28. Zhu Yaobin, Secretary of the Party Committee of the College, presided over the study.
The study was given by Ouyang Shu, a member of the Party Committee of the College and a doctor of law. Mr. Ouyang Shu first introduced the history of drafting the Civil Code after the founding of New China and pointed out that in the new era, the national government is becoming more and more mature, the national system is becoming more and more perfect, and the Civil Code has objective conditions. Mr. Ouyang Shu also introduced the structure and chapter arrangement of the Civil Code and used the theory of civil rights to explain the reasonableness of the chapter arrangement of the Civil Code, proving that the Civil Code is a people-centered code that protects people's rights. Finally, he explained the provisions of the Civil Code on the rights of fetuses, protection of citizens' information, prohibition of bullying, prohibition of throwing objects from a height, the exemption for righteousness, and the obligation to promptly explain in the form of contract.
In his concluding speech, Secretary Zhu Yaobin pointed out that the Civil Code will be implemented on January 1, 2021, and its provisions are closely related to everyone's life. All faculty members should consciously know and abide by the law, understand and use the law, carry forward the spirit of the rule of law, and be participants and promoters of the construction of the rule of law in China.
