In the morning of December 15, in order to deepen the study of maritime language and emphasize the maritime characteristics in the discipline construction of the college, the College of Foreign Languages held a lecture on the topic of Language Communication of Ship Traffic System in Room 324 of Foreign Language Building. Some teachers and students attended the lecture.
First of all, Wang Zengbin gave a brief introduction to his sailing experience and working environment. He pointed out that good English communication skills can help to improve navigation safety. Secondly, he elaborated from four aspects: VTS service content, VTS standard phrase expression, ship entry, and exit reporting system, and ship pilotage. In addition, he demonstrated the communication among pilot, crew, and VTS with the example of Yangtze estuary to strengthen the understanding of VTS language communication scenarios. Finally, in the Q&A session, Wang Zengbin gave detailed answers to everyone's questions.
This lecture helped teachers and students understand the form and content of English expressions in maritime scenes and promoted their research in the maritime language.
