On December 7-9, Associate Professor Zhou Pin was invited to give a keynote speech on Conceptualization of Emotions in English and Chinese from the Perspective of Embodied Semantics at the 7th National High Level Forum on Cognitive Neurolinguistics, and served as a panelist for the panel discussion. From December 14 to 16, he was the keynote speaker and panelist for Prof. Zeng Yong from Concordia University and Prof. Chen Baoguo from the Department of Psychology of Beijing Normal University. Mr. Zhou's speech, moderator and comments were well received by the participating experts and scholars.
The 7th National High-Level Forum on Cognitive Neurolinguistics was organized by the China Cognitive Neurolinguistics Research Society, hosted by the Key Laboratory of Brain and Cognitive Science Applications of Shanghai International Studies University, and co-organized by Foreign Language Education Press, Foreign Language World Magazine, the School of Advanced Translation of Shanghai International Studies, and the Artificial Intelligence and Data Application Laboratory of Shanghai International Studies University. More than 80 experts and scholars in the fields of linguistics, psychology, neuroscience and artificial intelligence from Beijing Foreign Studies University, Sichuan Foreign Studies University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Zhejiang University and other institutions joined the academic event here.
The 2018 International Symposium on Cognitive Neural Mechanisms of Language was organized by the Neurolinguistics Research Society of the Chinese Society for Language Modernization and hosted by the School of Translation and the College of Arts and Letters of Qufu Normal University. D. and M.A. students from more than 50 universities in China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan attended the symposium. The symposium was the first international conference held after the establishment of the Chinese Neurolinguistics Society, and it focused on the latest research results in the field of international neurolinguistics.
Cognitive neurolinguistics is still emerging in China, and many scholars are now mainly engaged in empirical research, while theoretical thinking and construction are relatively weak. Associate Professor Zhou's research focuses on philosophical thinking, scientific methodology of language research and theoretical construction of cognitive neurolinguistics, and he has published a paper Construction of a Methodological Model of Cognitive Neurolinguistics in the second issue of Foreign Languages in 2016, making an active contribution to the theoretical research of cognitive neurolinguistics. He has contributed to the theoretical research of cognitive neurolinguistics.
