On the morning of July 4, the College of Foreign Languages held a spring semester final faculty meeting in the conference room of Foreign Language Building 515 and Tencent Conference Room, which was held online and offline and presided over by Li Pingyou, secretary of the Party Committee of the College.
Mr. Li Pinyou firstly expressed his gratitude to all the faculty members for persevering in teaching and research work during the epidemic prevention and control period and caring for students in various ways; he also welcomed Mr. Liu Zhi, the new Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the College, and read out the decision of appointing Associate Professor Jiang Zhejie as the Vice President of Research of the College since March this year.
On the meeting, President Zhang Yan gave a summary of the final work of the college under the title of 21 years ago, 22 years past half, maritime foreign language people, wind and waves, together with the boat. She stood at the height of the development of the times, clarified that the irreversible development of the times had a profound impact on foreign language teaching, and made it clear that what foreign languages in maritime affairs should do - not only the study of the basic disciplines of foreign languages and literature, but also the study of the national strategy, the regional economy, and the ability to work together. It is also necessary to change the research method from introspective research to one that is in line with the development of the times. Teachers should have a sense of urgency and responsibility to integrate their own teaching and research into the college team. Dean Zhang Yan also explained in detail the revised and released implementation method of professional and technical job appointment of the university, and encouraged teachers to seize the opportunity to accumulate continuously and make a breakthrough in the promotion of their titles.
Deputy Secretary Liu Zhi made a report on the recent student work. Facing the test of the epidemic, all teachers in the Office of Academic Affairs have been fighting on the front line, overcoming various difficulties, serving students well and holding the position. In the next period of time, besides relocating the graduate student dormitories, promoting employment will become another key task of the Office of Academic Affairs. Vice President Guo Haixia shared the situation of undergraduate teaching work in this semester. She firstly thanked every teacher in the college for their serious teaching, hard work and silent dedication online during the epidemic. Then, around the professional construction and undergraduate teaching work under her charge, she reported on five aspects, including routine work, curriculum construction, teachers' teaching level and input, talent cultivation, and interpretation of teaching-related documents, hoping that teachers would have more input in teaching work and achieve more teaching results.
Vice President Jiang Zhejie affirmed the recent research situation that teachers have overcome all difficulties during their teaching at home, devoted themselves to scientific research and published many academic results, and shared the topics and projects that can be declared in the near future. Affected by the epidemic, this year's postgraduate interview, for the first time, took the form of online interview, and under the leadership and coordination of the college, the college successfully completed this task. Finally, Vice President Jiang led the audience to interpret the division of specific measures in the Implementation Plan for Quality Development of Postgraduate Education of Shanghai Maritime University.
At the end of the conference, Secretary Li Pingyou conveyed the spirit of the university's work conference on comprehensive strict governance, focusing on the five work requirements put forward by Secretary Song at the conference, emphasizing that comprehensive strict governance of the party cannot stop and the construction of teacher morality cannot be forgotten at all times.
