The Nautical Day with the theme of Shanghai International Shipping: Past, Present and Future was successfully held. Professor Wang Xuefeng from the School of Transportation and Communications and Arbitrator of China Maritime Arbitration Commission, and Mr. Wang Yizhi, Executive Vice President of Institute of Shipping Services and Institute of Shipping Culture of Shanghai International Shipping Research Center, were invited to give the lecture. Xu Xin, a teacher of the College of Foreign Languages, presided over the lecture, and Li Jiayun and Fang Jianjian provided simultaneous interpretation in Chinese and English.
Mr. Wang Yizhi talked about the driving force of shipping culture, from four aspects: developing the linkage effect through synergy and integration, setting up the layout to let more people perceive shipping, enhancing the influence of shipping culture through form innovation and brightening the color of shipping culture through cultural empowerment. He pointed out that the container throughput of Shanghai port has been the first in the world for ten consecutive years, and Shanghai has unique advantages in integrating shipping culture resources, creating major shipping enterprises around the world, and building national shipping culture highland. He hoped that the shipping culture and shipping economy would develop in a coordinated manner and contribute to the construction of Shanghai International Shipping Center.
With the theme of shipping policy and Lin-gang shipping development, Wang Xuefeng explained four aspects from the development history of shipping management, international shipping regulations, the status of Shanghai international shipping center and shipping policy of Lin-gang special area. He said that history has fully proved the important assertion that if the economy is to develop and the country is to be strong, transportation, especially shipping, must be strong first as proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping. With the continuous deepening reform of the shipping industry, the shipping governance system and governance capacity in the new era have been developed significantly. He gave a detailed introduction to the establishment of shipping enterprises in Lin-gang special area, the introduction of talents and preferential policies.
The event aimed to promote the international shipping style of Shanghai and the Lin-gang Special Area of China (Shanghai) Free Trade Zone to international talents and the new opportunities for innovation and entrepreneurship it offers.
