• Students from the Japanese Department of the College of Foreign Languages won the 4th National Foreign Language Proficiency Competition for University Students

    Recently, the final results of the 4th National College Students' Foreign Language Proficiency Contest were announced, and Ye Yuqi, a student from Class 192 of the Japanese Department of the College of Foreign Languages, won the Grand Prize with 170.8 points, which is the fifth place in the country.

    The 4th National University Student Foreign Language Proficiency Contest is sponsored by the Chinese and Foreign Language and Culture Comparison Society and organized by China Language Smart Technology (Xiamen) Co. It aims to test students' learning ability and comprehensive foreign language level, show the education and teaching level of major foreign language colleges and universities, and promote the cultivation of complex foreign language talents. The competition is divided into two tracks, English and Japanese, to help students improve their study skills and pass the exams by promoting teaching, learning and practice through the competition and fully mobilizing students' enthusiasm and self-discipline through foreign language proficiency events.

    The competition is open to full-time college students in higher education institutions nationwide. The preliminary round is organized by schools between October 9 and October 15, 2022. More than 63,000 students from more than 240 colleges and universities nationwide applied for the English track, and more than 8,000 students from more than 160 colleges and universities nationwide applied for the Japanese track. A total of 5,799 students from the English track and 868 students from the Japanese track were selected to enter the final round. The finalists competed on the same stage in the morning of October 22, 2022, with the Grand Prize, First Prize, Second Prize, and Third Prize categories set up according to those who qualified in the final round, with the winning percentages of 10%, 20%, 30%, and 40%, respectively.

    This is the first time for Japanese language students to participate in this competition, and the excellent results have boosted the confidence of the Japanese language faculty and students. In the future, the Department of Japanese Language will work harder to improve the quality of teaching and to cultivate Japanese talents with excellent knowledge and ability.
