Recently, the top international journal System in the field of linguistics (SSCI Region 1 Journal of the Humanities field of the Chinese Academy of Sciences) published online the latest research results of Deng Liwei, a teacher of our college, on student teaching evaluation. The thesis title is Exploring the effect of students' language learning strategies on Chinese students' perceptions of native and non-native English speaker teachers.
As a common and important activity in second language acquisition and teacher development, student evaluation has attracted the attention of many scholars and teachers. How to improve the effect of teaching evaluation from the perspective of educational psychology has become the focus of the current academic circle. Based on the Oxford self-regulated learning strategy model, this paper uses a mixed collection method of semi-structured interviews and questionnaires to explore the influence of affective, communicative, and cognitive strategies and meta-strategies on the evaluation of Chinese and foreign teachers in English learning. It is found that there is a significant positive correlation between learning strategies and students' evaluation of teaching, and the correlation is more significant in the evaluation of foreign teachers. Therefore, the study suggests improving students' learning strategies, especially cognitive strategies, to improve the effectiveness of students' teaching evaluations. The results of this study provide useful enlightenment for improving the evaluation of teaching from the perspective of educational psychology.
Since joining our institute at the end of 2023, Deng Liwei, a young teacher, has been actively carrying out scientific research and academic exchanges, making continuous progress in the field of second language writing, and publishing high-quality research results in SSCI journals such as System and Porta Linguarum as the first author. It reflects the efforts of the College of Foreign Languages to actively implement the Three guiding Opinions and guide young teachers to tackle major issues of concern to the school.
